Ah, but it is. Think about it. He knew that the day would come that he would die and Hela would be released and instead of letting her out early to fix his problem, he just let her inflict chaos on his realm and his sons.
As a father, he should want to protect his sons from something like this, but he procrastinated too much and put his burden on his sons instead of trying to fight Hela before. So yes, it wasnt his fault that he died, but it is his fault for not defeating her beforehand so then his children didnt have to face her. And because of this, Loki and Asgard all fell victim to Thanos because Odin didnt like dealing with his problems. I hope you all enjoyed this post where I pretty much rant about Odin for a few paragraphs :joy: But really, I feel that Odin does take the trophy of worst father, and king for that matter.
But anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed this post! Again, this is my opinion so you may disagree and that is fine! But don't start world war 3 in the comments :joy: Thanks again for reading this post and I will see you all next Sunday!
This is a really good blog. I literally just watched Thor and I was kind of ticked off at Odin at the end there. And then I was looking around on Amino cause I was bored and saw this. I totally agree with you on this matter. Really makes you wonder how bad someone must treat you that you feel so unimportant that you make a deal with your enemies to make you look good in their eyes. Yes but I must make it more obvious. I dislike- no hate, wait hate is a strong word At the least he could have told his sons about her as a cautionary tale of what happens if you get drunk with power just because she wanted to keep expanding their kingdom.
In fact I think Hela was more angry about him erasing her memory than anything else. He did all these things because he wanted to flex his king[ly] muscles and punish those who crossed him even if they were his family.
Thor showed how he held both sons in the same esteem and promised them that they would both be kings. He received all the training in combat and education that Thor had with the purpose of him being on a throne one day. This happened with his elder two children and his youngest was locked in a cell. After Hela grew to have too much lust for power—which Odin himself had encouraged—he trapped and locked her away in Hel. When Thor became too arrogant with his claim to the throne, Odin stripped him of his powers and banished him to Midgard.
After Loki was returned to Asgard from his crimes on Earth, Odin cut all contact with him and sealed him in the Asgardian prison. Most overlook the fact that Odin had become fully aware of the spell Loki had trapped him with and overcame it while on Earth.
